Fruity, bright and gently salty. Tobermory 12 comes from the harbour town of the same name on the Isle of Mull, and it's a great island malt for people who don't want peat smoke.
About Tobermory
Founded in 1798, Tobermory is one of Scotland's oldest working distilleries and the only one on Mull. It makes two styles of whisky: unpeated Tobermory and heavily peated Ledaig. This 12 Year Old was released in 2019, when the distillery reopened after a two-year refurbishment.
Maturation
Aged for 12 years in American oak. Bottled at 46.3% with no chill-filtration and natural colour.
Nose
Pear, peach and apple with a dusting of brown sugar, then Greek yoghurt, barley and a hint of cinnamon pastry.
Palate
Rounded and slightly oily malt, with plenty of stone-fruit sweetness.
Finish
Orange peel, soft oak, vanilla fudge and dates.
How to enjoy
Neat or with a splash of water. It pairs well with grilled prawns, fruit tarts or a mild creamy cheese.
